Emma Dean is an internationally acclaimed musician, creativity coach, performer, writer, composer, arranger, dreamer, and choir mama based in Meanjin/Brisbane, Australia.
As a musician and performer, Emma is passionate about the magical world where music and storytelling collide. She has released over ten independent EPs, albums and soundtracks, played lead roles in theatre shows such as Cabaret and The Tempest (Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre), and toured around Australia and internationally including performances of her own shows on Off-Broadway and Edinburgh Fringe to rave reviews. As a certified life coach, Emma works with people who are longing for more sparkle, creativity, confidence and magic. Emma has had so many remarkable experiences over the two decades she has been working as a professional musician.
In 2018, Emma was a featured soloist in The Commonwealth Games opening ceremony, singing John Farnham’s iconic song - You’re The Voice - accompanied by Brisbane-based choir Voices Of Birralee. She has also written and arranged music for the Emmy Award winning kid's TV show Bluey and is currently music director for Rainbow Bop - an all-girl puppet band for kids. |

Emma has shared the stage with artists like Macy Gray, Placebo, Jinkx Monsoon (Ru-Paul's Drag Race), Camerata - Queensland's Chamber Orchestra, Jesca Hoop, Kate Miller-Heidke, Amanda Palmer and The Dresden Dolls and has been listed as 'one of ten artists to watch' by The New York Post. She is also a recipient of the 'Under Our Wing' cabaret award alongside musical comedy superstars, Tim Minchin and Sammy J.

In 2020, in the midst of a global pandemic, Emma premiered a new work called Hot Mess Mama, inspired by the current climate crisis, co-created with playwright Katherine Lyall-Watson and directed by Dan Evans. The world premiere was part of Brisbane Festival.
In 2021, her much-anticipated album, Shape Of A Girl, was released - a very special collaboration with her producer and brother, Tony Dean. The album is an exploration of Emma's experience with infertility, IVF and loss and is an empowering celebration of the unconventional, courageous, and inspiring women who are finding their unique shape in the world.
And most recently, Emma was announced as the 2023 Griffith University Outstanding Young Alumni winner for Arts, Education and Law.

When Emma is not on stage or coaching, she can be found writing choral arrangements for choirs and musicians, including John Farnham, Kate Ceberano, Katie Noonan, Glenn Shorrock (Little River Band) and Voices Of Birralee. She is a passionate advocate for the magical healing qualities of group singing and proudly leads a colourful community choir in Brisbane called Cheep Trill who she considers to be her extended family.
Emma lives by the sea in Sandgate with her partner and musical collaborator Lucas Clarke, their twins Tilda (Tilly) and Otis, and their cheeky adopted groodle Charlie Dickens, who has a penchant for eating socks and undies.
